About me…

Hi, I’m Sue Catt – welcome to my colourful world!

I create individual originals for original individuals… are you one of them?!

I’m a textile and collage artist, designer, dressmaker, collector, upcycler, teacher – and self-declared fabric mixologist – based in the beautiful seaside town of Port Lincoln, South Australia. My business, Sue Catt Creative, operates from my light-filled, joyfully chaotic home studio, where creativity spills across sewing stations, display shelves, and inspiration boards.

Here, I design and handcraft art-to-wear clothing, homewares, artwork, artisan gifts, and cards – each one-of-a-kind and bursting with personality. I sell directly from my studio, through select galleries like the Nautilus Arts Centre in Port Lincoln, at local markets, and right here in my online shop. I also love collaborating on custom-made pieces with clients who want something truly special – if that’s you, let’s bring your vision to life!

Trained in fashion and deeply passionate about textiles, I’ve been stitching, sourcing, and experimenting for as long as I can remember. My practice is ever-evolving – inspired by travel, tradition, colour, and curiosity. These days, I also run classes and workshops in dressmaking, art and craft – passing on skills, techniques, and joy to others who want to explore their own creativity.

At the heart of everything I do is a deep respect for sustainability. I’m an enthusiastic collector and rescuer of vintage and global textiles – from delicate Japanese kimono silks and handwoven ikats, to doilies, tablecloths, and African wax prints. Many of my art pieces feature upcycled materials and found treasures like feathers, old papers, and ephemera. This gives each item a story, a soul – and reflects the values of slow fashion and mindful making.

I find inspiration everywhere – from rainbows and spirals, to shells, birds, fish, fairy tales, world religions, and faraway lands. Some works are playful, others meaningful, but all come from a place of connection. Often it’s simply a beautiful piece of fabric that sparks the whole process.

Symbolism and positive affirmations play a big role in both my life and my art. I create with the intention of encouraging others to embrace their uniqueness, live boldly, and surround themselves with joy. Each piece I make carries a message – of hope, peace, and good energy.

Thank you for supporting handmade, original art – whether it’s from me or another artist. We keep the world more creative, colourful, and alive.

Smile, relax and remember to breathe.

Have a great day

Sue xx

I enjoy telling the story behind the materials used in each piece. This brings the feeling of SLOW fashion and sustainability to my work.
